Well it is now officially winter here! I have had to scrape ice off my windscreen in the morning a few times already! The houses are not very well insulated here and I am still figuring out the best way to keep warm. At school they always have some of the windows open because fresh air is good for the students! You kind of just have to wear layers! They have these things called kotatsus which can be roughly described as a table with an electric element underneath which you switch on and sit around the table with lots of blankets!
The Crazy Christmas party season is not so big here as the Japanese celebrate New Year more than Christmas...we did have a party with the kids and my English conversation group which was a lot of fun!
Je m’habitue petit à petit à l’hiver au japon… Les maisons ne sont pas très bien isolées et il n y a pas le même niveau de chauffage centrale…alors il faut penser à s’habiller un peu autrement…avec beaucoup de couches ! Il commence a faire super froid ici et c’est que le début, j’ai déjà du gratter la par brise de ma voiture un matin la semaine dernière ! Les japonais utilisent beaucoup ce qu’ils appellent un ‘kotatsu’ qui consiste en une table avec une lumière
chauffante électrique dessous la table. Il y a une couverture spéciale qui est placée entre la lumière et le dessus de la table et ils s’assoient a par terre avec les jambes sous la table et la couverture sur les genoux pour bien tenir au chaud…désolée la description est difficile a écrire ! Nous avons fait une fete avec les enfants et les membres de mon cours de conversation du mercredi soir, c'etait tres amusant.
